Shawn and Jennifer have been married since 2002, and moved to Tenino the following year. They have two sons, Tanis (18) and Tristan (16), and they've also hosted exchange students from Egypt and Ghana. The Von Bargens have been members of Cornerstone Community Church since 2010, and in that time, God has challenged them to deepen their commitment at every turn. Shawn specifically has been involved as a deacon, in music ministry, men's ministry, and filled the pulpit during our time without a full-time pastor. He is also a licensed Christian counsellor. One of the most profound challenges to Shawn was when he felt the call of God to the pastoral ministry when he was already serving on the pastor search committee. After everyone involved devoted themselves to prayer and consideration, we can consider ourselves blessed to have been able to retain him as our pastor and lead elder.
